Before I begin reviewing the movie I have to say Reiko was the best part of this film.
The Movie: AVPR was widely released on Christmas Day. I saw most of the movies that came out for the holiday season and I can tell you that AVPR was without doubt one of the worst. I hadn't seen Alien vs. Predator so I had no idea what I was getting into. This movie felt long, and it was 86 minutes. I've seen Alien and that's an Oscar winning movie(s). But the forth one wasn't as good as the other three, I think that should of made everyone realize that it was time to stop making re-makes of this film. I've never seen Predator but it was nominated for an Oscar and I would hope it was better than AVPR which was nominated for two Razzie awards (Worst Prequel or Sequel; Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie). I think it should have won "Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie" because when I saw it I wasn't even sure if it was suppose to be a horror movie. Somewhere in the middle of this movie I was expecting that the predator would take off his mask and we would see that Conan O'Brien was underneath. I went into the theatre hoping I would enjoy it, I came out severely disappointed. I wonder what Sigourney Weaver thinks of this film.
Reiko's Part: She is the only positive in all of the negatives of this film. I would (surprisingly) suggest Reiko fans see this movie. It's her first (semi)big role in a wide release movie, and she was the best part of it. I just think going in to it you should remember that this is a movie that was nominated for Razzies--not Oscars. Don't expect any thing great or impressive, you'll be more likely to enjoy it going in with this frame of mind. Reiko's great in everything she did and will ever do, but she really shined in this role because she out did everyone else in the movie. She gave the best performance possibly in this poorly written role. I don't think this movie was worthy of her talents. Most (very possibly all) of her other movies are better than this one.
If your a fan of Reiko you should rent the movie but keep the remote near by for fast forwarding.
